Westwood FC Prepare for Sylhet Tour

Another Oldham football team will be heading to Bangladesh this month for a three week tournament against local players in the Sylhet district. This time it is the lesser known Westwood FC.

Westwood FC will play against five different teams when they travel abroad and hope the hot weather and the poor conditions of the playing fields will not affect their performance.

Twenty players will make the trip and for many it will also be their first visit to Bangladesh.

Organiser Rasel Hussain: "We are really looking forward to it.

"We've been planning this trip for some time now and it's going to be a great experience for us all.

"Being a UK born Bangladeshi who loves playing football and then to go back to Bangladesh and play there is just great.

"We realise it is going to be extremely hot when we get there and it might take a couple of days for our bodies to climatise but we are hopeful that our skills will show through when we play.

"Last year we went on a football tour in Spain and everybody had a great time. We learnt so much from playing in different countries and from other players."

He added: "Many of the lads will be going to Bangladesh for the first time and they are really excited to see the country and even visit some relatives whilst they are out there."

Westwood FC plan to travel to Bangladesh on 26 May.
