FCOC Asks BFF to Defer Polls

The Friendship Cup Organising Committee (FCOC) yesterday requested the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) to delay the elections of the district and divisional football associations (DFAs) for the sake of the tournament.

The polls at the districts are due to be held by December 5 and the divisions by December 14.

"We have appealed to the BFF to defer the DFA elections to make the Friendship Cup successful," told organising committee joint secretary Fazlur Rahman Babul yesterday.

"We have sought the help of BFF, Bangladesh Olympic Association and the National Sports Council to make the international football tournament a success. We are also involving organisers from the districts. The recent schedule of the polls, however, will deny them from coming to Dhaka and help us," Babul added.

"The district organisers will be busy from November 28 to December 10 for the tournament. So it would be difficult for them to get involved in the election procedures. That's why we have requested the BFF to reschedule the election dates," said FCOC secretary Badal Roy.
