Youngmen's Club Secure Senior Division Title

Youngmen's Club Fakirerpool sealed their first major title in domestic football when they ensured unassailable lead in the Senior Division Football League table after contenders Victoria and Sunrise SC drew their crucial super league match yesterday.

With two matches in hand, Youngmen's Club's collection is 36 points from 15 outings while Sunrise increased their tally to 28 points also after same number of matches following the goalless draw at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

After 15 games, Victoria stood on 26 points.

In the relegation league, Wari Club defeated Dipali Juba Sangha 2-0 with Selim and Babu scoring after the break.

Fakirerpool Slam Two Past Jatrabari

Youngmen's Club Fakirerpool beat Jatrabari Krira Chakra 2-0 in a Super Six match of the Senior Division football match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.

Touhidul and Sakhawat scored one goal each for the winners.

In the day's other match, Agrani Bank defeated City Club 2-1 at the Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Stadium in Kamalapur.

Kazi Tutul struck twice for the winners while Mehdi Hasan netted one for City.

Victoria Suffer Blow

Victoria Sporting Club's title hopes were heavily dashed when they suffered a 3-0 defeat to fellow contenders Jatrabari KC in a super six match of the Senior Division Football League yesterday.

Zakir put Jatrabari ahead after 43 minutes while Shariful and Iqbal struck early and late second half goals to seal three points for the newcomers at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

In the relegation battle, a brace by Mehdi gave City Club a 2-1 victory against Arambagh at the Kamalapur Stadium.

Draws Order of the Day

Sunrise Sporting Club came from behind to play out a 1-1 draw with Jatrabari Krira Chakra in the Super Six match of the Metropolis Senior Division Football League at the Birshreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur yesterday.

Shariful put Jatrabari ahead in the 11th minute but Sajid converted a penalty in the 31st minute to equalise for Sunrise.

After the day's outcome, Sunrise remained at third position securing 24 points and Jatrabari are in the fifth place with 21 points, both playing 13 matches.

The day's relegation encounter between Wari Club and City Club also ended in a 1-1 draw at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

Jony scored for City Club in the 10th minute while Afsar struck for Wari Club in the 14th minute.

Wari earned 13 points from 13 matches and City Club bagged 10 points from same number of outings.

Badda Stun Victoria

Badda Jagarani upset title contender Victoria Sporting Club 1-0 in their first Super Six encounter of the Metropolis Senior Division Football at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.

Alamgir Kabir scored the match-winner in the 74th minute.

After the day's match, Badda improved their position in the table securing 22 points from 13 matches while Victoria remained on 25 from the same number of encounters.

The day's lone relegation league match between Arambagh and Mohakhali ended in a one-all draw at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Stadium in Kamalapur.

Mona put Mohakhali ahead in the 5th minute only for Syed to restore parity for Arambagh in the 61st minute.

Sunrise will play Jatrabari in a Super Six match at the Kamalapur venue while Wari Club face City Club in a relegation league match at the Big Bowl today.

First Win for Mohakhali

Mohakhali XI recorded their first victory in the Senior Division Football League yesterday when they edged Purbachal Parisad 1-0 at the Birshreshtha Shaheed Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur.

Ohidul slotted the lone goal in the 41st minute as Mohakhali toppled Purbachal in the table, moving to tenth place with nine points. Purbachal are on eight points.

Today's match: Jatrabari v Sunrise (3pm).

Victoria Back to Winning Ways

Victoria Sporting Club returned to winning ways in the Senior Division Football League when they edged Arambagh Krira Sangha 1-0 at the Birshreshtha Shaheed Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur yesterday.

Victoria, who suffered their lone defeat in the 13-team fray in the last round, took three points through a 52nd minute strike by Jahir.

After 11 matches, Victoria retained top spot with 24 points but second-placed Jatrabari, on 18 points, have the advantage of playing just eight games so far.

Youngmen's Club are also on 18 points but have played ten matches.

In the day's other match, Badda shared points in a goalless draw with Sunrise. With 16 and 15 points respectively, both teams have brightened their chances to play in the Super Six after the first leg but Arambagh have jeopardised their chances as they stuck to 12 points at seventh place.

Today's matches: Dipali v City Club (1.30pm) and Wari v Agrani Bank 3.30pm (Kamalapur).

Draws in Senior Division

Wari Club played out a one-all draw with City Club in the Metropolis Senior Division Football League at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur yesterday.

Mobarak put Wari Club ahead in the 50th minute and then Mehdi equalised the margin for City Club in the 75th minute.

In the day's other match, Youngmen's Club also shared points with Victoria SC playing in a goalless draw at the same venue.

Arambagh Krira Sangha take on Victoria while Badda Jagarani face Sunrise Sporting Club.

Senior Division Football League Coverage

I have finally decided to post news on the Metropolis Senior Division Football League. I know the season is well underway, but with no other major tournaments being played right now, I thought that BanglaFootball.net might go through a dry period without it. I have no idea why I didn't post news on the Senior Division Football League when it first started, so don't ask me. Perhaps I thought that there would be a lack of interest.

Anyway, a bit of info on the league now, for those of you who aren't aware. These are the teams participating:
